In 1985, Swedbank started its acquiring business under the name Swedbank Babs, which stands for Bank Administrative Store Service (BankkortsAdministrativ ButiksService in Swedish). The business, one of the first to handle acquiring, operated through Swedbank and the Sparbanken bank branches. For acquiring, you signed an agreement with Swedbank Babs (also known as Swedbank Card Services), and for payment terminals, you signed an agreement with Babs Paylink, then a subsidiary of Swedbank.
Today, acquiring, in-store payments, and online payments have all been combined into one payment platform – Swedbank Pay. A one-stop shop for payments, simplifying them for all businesses, and dedicated to providing secure transactions. This includes complying with legal requirements for secure payments and always striving to offer the payment method that best suits our customer without promoting credit purchases. We also handle information securely and place great emphasis on transparent and clear terms.
